It is a marvelous piece of work and design. This is probably the component that we are least aware of. Normally it just works. We see, we hear. We feel, we digest all of this just happens. That is when everything is working. But when things go wrong our body lets us know pretty quickly. In this situation when we sit out in the sun to long and get burned we feel pain. When we are constipated we know about it. The same thing is true when we have a bladder infection. When we are hungry we know about is as well. These are just a few examples. Have you ever asked yourself why the body works the way it does. With all the things that happened to me in the course of life I have had to ask that question. The other question I have asked is why I heal the way I do. We will get into this in the next blog post.

Taste Like Chicken

So I have touched on the need for some exercise. The old adage is “use it or lose it” is so true. In this day of convenience we do not use our body as it was intended to be used. We drive everywhere; we sit in front of the TV. Or the computer screen. This is the norm of society we cannot get away from it. But exercise is one of the basics of health and wellness. After my heart attack I took an attitude of poor me and devised many excuses to avoid this basic. So I gained weight my chest slipped and I was becoming a couch potato. When I visited my cardiologist he said lose weight. My blood pressure went up my heart rate went up to name a few. So I started to watch my intake and would eat no more then what I had put on my plate. NO snacks no junk food etc. I then started to walk to do my errands. Low and behold in a matter of two months I had lost a considerable amount of weight. I was fortunate to live in a small town. I could walk to the post office, go for coffee go to the grocery store and the bank. The result was better health, lower blood pressure lower and more vitality. So exercise is a key to the feeling of health and wellness. I had the stationary bike and was considering other apparatus as well. I then thought walking is free and all you need is what you got. The only hold back is the discipline to do it. So this little exercise taught me I could do it and some years later I am still here. Till next time.

BASICS TWO

So moving right along I guess the path to heath and wellness is:
1.fuel for the body or nutrition.
2. exercise the old addage use it or lose it.
3 The last basic is the body itself.

All of these basic parts to health and wellness have to operate together to get the result that I think all of us want. So that is where we start. The body is a unquie instument and as a laymen it is too difficult to totaly understand. This one thing that i know when you break a bone eventually it heals. When you hit your thumb with a hammer it lets you know. When you get a cold you have a discharge and in time you get better. So this tells me that the body has a communication system that lets you know what is happening. Each one of these examples uses a different system and a diffrent response. This tells me that the body is key to health and wellnes. When everything is working we take it for granted. When something goes wrong then we know about it. The body is the foundation for our health and wellness. With this in mind what are the other basics. I think that the main one is nutrition in other words how do we feed or provide the fuel to keep the body funtioning as it was designed too operate. Like are car if you do not put fuel in you are not going anywhere. This comes down too food that has to provide all the nutrients that you need. Miss a few and you do not operate as you should. The last basic is excercise. The old adage use it or lose it applies here. As you exercise you make it work better and more effectively. In my mind these are the basics to good heath and feeling well. This is my story about the journey I took too that goal. Over my life time I have taken my only resource, My BODY for granted and if you are like me you have too. That is until something happens and then it is central. A car accident, a heart attack, a twisted bowel. a broken bone and then the questions start to come. These could be how long till Iam normal again too is it every going to get better. In all my years I have consumed a lot of the Health care system up here in Canada thank God I did not have too pay for it. I have had a seperated liver that was 4 months in the Hospital. Two heart bypasses. A couple of twisted bowels , one broken nose and the list goes on. This does not include all the test too find out what was wrong and then the follow up test to see if it worked. Do you get the idea that I have had a lot of time to think about my body and how I get better thank God I did. The only thing that you and I have is our body we can abuse it or take care of it.

So the the questions that i started with is how does the body work?

How do I heal?

What is the cause of infections and how do they get better?

Why do we have colds?

Why do I get sick anyway?

You can fill in your questions because each one of has our own health issues to solve and I can assure you that the answers are out there. So as this blog progress These are the things I will be exploring.

YOUR BODY IS THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE AND YOU ARE IN CONTROL
